5 destinations you must visit with your college besties before you graduate
College might be coming to an end, but fun should not.
College is getting over in a few months and soon you will be graduating. And probably there might be some sifting to another city or going abroad for further studies thereby splitting your close knitted group. This is the perfect time to plan that one last trip.
Here, are a few suggestions for that epic trip:
1. Puducherry
Known as Pondicherry up until a while ago, this destination has a lot of water sports to offer. From boating to surfing to scuba diving--it has it all! Afraid of water? Why not tour French colonies by renting bicycles with your friends, and gain a truly memorable experience. Pondicherry also offers exciting fare for foodies, and travellers can enjoy a lip-smacking blend of South Indian and Portugese cuisine, amongst many others.
2. Gokarna
A small temple town situated in the Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka, Gokarna has a lot to offer. Hiking is the best way to get around the beaches in this small town; and after a long tiring hike, you can relax over a tall glass of 'iced Nutella', which is something you'll definitely want more of. For shopaholics, Gokarna's flea market is a treasure trove of hippie finds, which include trinkets and clothing items. So if you're looking for a destination that offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, this is the place to be.
3. Alleppey
Also known as the Venice of the East, this place is a true delight. You and your friends can all pitch in for a houseboat ride and enjoy the peaceful backwaters of God's Own Country. Not to mention, you can also enjoy exotic seafood available there. Other must -see attractions include, the Pandavan Rock, which according to legend is the cave where the Pandavas (yes, the same ones from Mahabharata) lived during their exile. And while you're there, don't forget to visit the beaches.
4. Spiti Valley
Ever dreamed of sleeping under a blanket of stars? If yes, then Spiti Valley is the place for you. And you should take your besties along too! While there, visit the 'mummified monk' in the village of Gue which was discovered by Army in 1975. The 'mummy' is said to be 500 to 600 years old. Also don't forget to camp at moon lake, also known as Chandartal; and visit the monasteries in the villages of Spiti to experience some generous hospitality.
Although, before you get a little too excited and book your tickets, remember: you can only visit this valley tucked away in Himachal Pradesh when the snow melts which is from May to late September.
5. Goa
While Goa might be done to death, it appears on the bucket list of every college student. Of course, the beach state is a hotspot for fun activities, which you can do with all your girlfriends. From dolphin watching to parasailing--it's all there! Also, Goa's famous flea markets will quench your inner shopaholic's thirst.
However, don't just limit your vacay to the beaches and markets. Do pay a visit to the ancient caves of Lamgau, Rivona, and Khandepar that date to back to the 10th and 11th centuries.
For all those girls out there who have already gotten out of college, these places would be perfect to plan that reunion which may have been pending for a while. Nothing's better than meeting up with your old girlfriends and reliving the golden old days.
